
SOCIO-LEGAL THEORY
AND HISTORY PRIZE
This prize is awarded each year for an outstanding contribution to socio-legal theory or to socio-legal history. It was created in 2015 with generous sponsorship from Professor Roger Cotterrell. In 2026 the journal Social and Legal Studies stepped in to fund the prize.
Nominations open on 15 July 2026 and close on 6 October 2026.
NOMINATIONS
A book prize for an outstanding contribution to socio-legal theory or to socio-legal history published in the 12 months up to 30 September preceding the closing date for nominations. The winner is announced at the SLSA Annual Conference and receives £250. The closing date for nominations is the first Tuesday in October 2026.
All nominees and nominators must be current members in good standing of the Socio-Legal Studies Association.
