

GOVERNANCE
The SLSA is run by a Board of Trustees who are elected by the membership at the SLSA AGM. All Trustees are volunteers who give their time freely and generously to run the Association.

SLSA CONSTITUTION
As a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, the SLSA operates under a formal constitution in accordance with the Charities Act 2011. The SLSA's stated object is 'is for the public benefit to advance education and learning in the field of socio legal studies and to promote research, the useful results of which shall be published for the public benefit, teaching and the dissemination of knowledge in the field'.

GRANTS COMMITTEE
The SLSA Grants Committee is responsible for awarding research and fieldwork grants to support high-quality socio-legal scholarship. It is also responsible for evaluating submissions to the International Collaboration Funding Scheme. See our Grants page for details.

SEMINAR COMMITTEE
The Seminar Competition Committee evaluates submissions for the annual SLSA Seminar Competition, awarding funding to support the delivery of either an individual seminar, a short conference, or a series of events. See our Seminar Competition page for details.

EDI COMMITTEE
The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee ensures that the SLSA upholds its commitment to EDI across all its activities and decision-making processes, working to embed EDI principles into the operations of SLSA activities to ensure that all decisions reflect the SLSA’s commitment to fairness, accessibility and inclusivity. INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE
The International Committee works to strengthen connections between the SLSA and socio-legal organisations worldwide. Through collaboration and engagement, the committee fosters international partnerships, promotes cross-border dialogue and supports global socio-legal research initiatives.

BOOK PRIZE COMMITTEE
The Book Prize Committee is responsible for compiling the shortlist for the annual SLSA book prizes, recognising outstanding contributions to socio-legal scholarship. The SLSA Board then votes for the winner. See our Prizes page for details.

IMPACT COMMITTEE
The Impact Committee oversees the Impact Grant Scheme and Impact Prizes. Impact activities can include, for example, public engagement events, follow-on funding, producing policy briefs/reports, developing relationships with non-academic partners and the like. STREAM AND CONFERENCE COMMITTEE
The Stream and Conference Committee is responsible for reviewing applications for new conference streams, working with conference organisers to determine current topics, and selecting stream convenors. The committee ensures that the SLSA Annual Conference reflects emerging and significant themes in socio-legal research.
